Bodegas Navarro Lopez is located in the oldest wine-growing region of Valdepeñas in the province of Castile-La Mancha. The plant was founded in 1904 by Don Juan Megia Sanchez, at first as a small family business, but constantly increasing production, in the thirties, the company produced 160,000 liters per year. During the Civil War, the winery was confiscated by Republicans, and only in 1940, returned to the family of Magic. In fact, I had to revive everything from scratch. Until the mid-sixties, almost all of the wine was sold in bulk barrels, mainly to Madrid. In the seventies, the winery with a capacity of 360,000 liters per year passed to the last member of the Megia family. Then the plant was acquired by its current owner, Don Dorotheo Navarro Donado, who immediately implemented the necessary reforms. Strict quality control, emphasis on varietal bottled wines, a wide range, as well as the acquisition of the most modern equipment have become the basis for the production of wines of the highest quality. The following red grape varieties are grown on its own vineyards with an area of about 150 hectares: Tempranillo, Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and White: Macabeo, Airen, Sauvignon Blanc. About 90% of the annual production of 10 million liters is red wine.
Today, Bodegas Navarro Lopez is one of the most successful and modernly equipped wine-making factories in Spain, 80% of which is exported to more than 20 countries of the world, most of all to Germany, Great Britain, Canada, Scandinavian countries, the USA. Bodegas Navarro Lopez successfully combines the best traditions of a family-owned winery with a high-tech, modernly equipped production facility.
